A Brief Discussion on the Different Types of Tattoo Machines

Tattoos existed even when tattoo machines were not invented. The premise has been the same always - using something pointy to insert the ink into the skin. In the bygone days, this was done using a hammer or thorn. The ink was made of soot. Nowadays everyone has become habituated with machines.

The following write-up specifies a few popular types of tattoo machines, all of which has the same goal - to get ink in the skin, and leave behind a phenomenal design. This is easier to accomplish now than it was earlier, owing to the miracleof machinery.

Coil, Rotary, and Pneumatic

The experts providing quality yet affordable tattoo cartridges  said a rotary machine is capable of moving the needles up and down too rapidly. It has an incredibly simple design and weighs quite little due to minimum components. Rotary machines draw the needles in a fluid, cyclic, and uniform pattern.

Coil tattoo machines are a tad noisier than their rotary counterparts. They are the buzzing that most people associate with tattoo studios with a choppy needle movement. The electromagnets equipped by solenoid powers the machine, passing through the coils, and turning the magnets off and on quickly. The artist need precise hand movements and strokes to manoeuvre coil tattoo machines.

Pneumatic tattoo machine revolutionised the entire body art industry to a great extent. The needles are powered by compressed air, which was never seen before in the market. Tattoo artists may be quite hesitant to purchase it because of the price, but, there are pros that make this machine desirable. Pneumatic tattoo gun is light weighted and the artist can use it for inking intricate designs.

Liners and Shaders

Liners can create fast and short strokes. The artists can draw solid lines with just one motion. That is amazing, right? When drawing the lines, the artists do not stop since that can break the continuity, and the design will turn messy. Fine and standard liners all have several needle configurations. The design will be great if the liner is fine and the needles attached are few. A liner uses a maximum of seven needles organised in a circle.

As the name indicates, shaders are utilised for shading. The experts offering the best tattoo cartridges said the strokes are quite long due to ink saturation and subtle gradients. Shaders fill in larger colour blocks and can sculpt lines seamlessly. Shaders have much more needles than liners so they are obviously powerful. They can cover larger portions of the skin without any hassle.

Tattoo machines  may work and look different, but, they comprise similar moving parts. The difference lies in how they are made, how they move, and what actually keeps the motor functional. When their skillset grows, the artists obviously have to increase their tattoo machine collection .
